Packaging briefcase- Packaging design Ideas:

I've started to develop my package designs even further. I think that these designs are successful because I've thought about a variety of shapes and textures that can be used that will be eye-catching towards young children.  I've labelled my designs so they are linked to sustainability and I've shown what materials I've thinking of using. The main materials that I'm thinking of using are: cardboard, cotton, silk and felt. For the next stages of my work, I need to choose the designs that I think would work best and develop them.

Packaging Briefcase- chocolate bar packaging

I've continued to develop my chocolate bar packaging designs by thinking about the layout.  I think that these designs are successful because I've used pattern to represent each character that you can collect with the chocolate bar.  Each pattern design is based off the clothing from each character. Also, each package design will have the colour scheme of blue, red and yellow.  To improve these designs even further, I'm going to add further details to the designs and apply colour to them by using Photoshop.

Packaging Briefcase- mock up

I've now started to think about the collectables that will come with the chocolate bar. I've drawn my character designs from different angels so that I can see how the character's will look from different perspectives.  Afterwards, I started to think about what materials I could use for the mock-ups. For my first mockup design I decided to make it out of felt.  I used to the sizing that I wrote down as I guideline. I only made the mock up 4 inches tall so that I can see whether this design would be successful.  I added details to the clothing and face by using posca pens.  I think that the mock-up design is successful because I've thought about the 3D aspect and what materials would work best for my chosen target audience.

Packaging Briefcase- Chocolate Bar Packaging Ideas

I've now started to develop my chocolate bar packaging designs even further. I've decided to make some mock-ups of the designs so that I can physically see if the design is effective.  I think that my designs so far are successful because I've experimented with using a different material. Also, by using felt, I've linked my designs back to my previous research. Another reason on why I think these outcomes are successful is based on the uses of shapes. I used different shapes to put onto the designs because young children will find them appealing.  With these outcomes so far, I'm happy with the chosen colour scheme and the logo. The improve my designs even further, I think that the arrangements of the patterns could be changed. Also, I think that the border around the packaging could have some pattern on it as well as I think my design needs more detail.  I'm now going to develop my designs by changing certain details and compositions. I might try to scan my desi...

Packaging Briefcase- Logo Designs

After doing some research and coming up with a few ideas for my product. I've started to produce a variety of logo designs based on the products name. I think that these designs are successful because I combined a balance of image and text for each logo. I believe that this is effective as typography and symbols can make a brand more memorable. Also, I like my logo designs because of the uses of line work. I've used a mixture of thin and bold lines so that I can make certain parts of my designs stand out. With a couple of my designs, I have used characters. But I think that they may not be as effective because I think the logo design could be simple.  For the next stages, I'm going to continue to develop my logo designs even further and I'm going to apply colour to them. I need to pick of colour scheme that will work well with the rest of the packaging.

Packaging Briefcase- Packaging Ideas

Since getting feedback from Veronica about my ideas, I've started to develop my designs even further. Veronica advised me to think about shape and texture for the packaging. So I've started to research into what textures young children find appealing. The main materials that I'm thinking of using is cotton, felt and silk.  Afterwards, I began to draw out sketches of different packaging designs and I've labelled what materials would be used. When drawing these designs, I've thought about shape so that I can make my products packaging stand out.  Based on all of these designs, I've been advised that the best shape for applying materials onto would be rounded packaging.  I'm now going to develop my designs by making more detailed designs and I'm going to apply colour.

Packaging Briefcase- Character Designs:

Along with my packaging designs, I've decided that I want to produce collectables. I want to do this as young children like to collect toys and I think that this will encourage this target audience to keep wanting the product.  Each collectable is going to be based off a benefit of dark chocolate so that there that the product can be educational based. So far, I have designed three characters. Hetty Heart, Merlin Moon and Sally Sun. I thought that giving them fun names would work for young audiences.  After producing my character designs, I've started to apply colour to them. I think that the primary colour scheme works as children find bold colours more eye-catching.  For the next stages, I'm still going to continue to create more character designs so that I can develop them even further. Also, I'm going to continue to produce more designs so I create more collectables. As I've designed characters based on the benefits of eating dark chocolate, Veronica advised m...

Packaging Briefcase- Target Audience:

Packaging Briefcase- Mood Board & Colour Palettes

I've began my packaging research by gathering together images of existing chocolate packaging so that can use them as inspiration. I've also made colour palettes by choosing certain colour from these images. Out of all of the colour palettes, I've decided that I like the bottom palette the most because the colours are bold and I think these colour schemes will be more appealing towards a younger audience.  Within this research, I've noticed how the designs composition, with the image and text not clashing or being too close together.

Penguin Book Project- Developed Book Cover Design

I've began to develop my book cover design even further by combining together illustrations and text.  I think that my cover design has is now more successful because I've altered the typography so that's easier to read. Also, I've improved my book cover design by adding illustrations of plants and leave surrounding the text on the back cover.  However, I think that my book cover design still needs improving by bringing the bluebell illustration down even further. Also, some parts of the text is too close to the illustrations so I need to alter the composition slightly.
